Job Summary

Responsible for developing the strategy to optimize and sustainably grow the transmission and distribution pipeline systems and for executing Growth and Large Projects.  This will include long-term planning of system enhancements including consideration of customer growth, long-term infrastructure improvement plan (LTIIP), and regulatory requirements.  Responsibilities will also include the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the geospatial models used to design pipelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct the design, estimation, permitting and approval of new business project designs and oversee project management of large Utility projects to support capital budget targets.  Accountable for capital forecast in Growth budget pillar and responsible for compilation and summary of capital forecasts across Replacement and Betterment budget groups.    
  • Manage and develop the System Planning, Business Development Engineering, and the Project Management & Controls staff.  Establish and track performance expectations and hold team accountable.  Build competencies in the technologies and standard that apply to our business.  Develop leadership skills in your team.
  • Develop long‐term infrastructure plans to support weakened areas of our system as well as overall MAOP reconfirmation support across our system.
  • Manage the accuracy and updating efficiency of UGI's mapping system, hydraulic models, and as-built information.  Support and contribute to utility technology transformation planning in facility and asset data systems.  
  • Support other strategic objectives and projects within the Global Engineering function and Utility business unit to enhance the utility distribution system.

  • Analyze information to make sound business decisions taking prudent business risks as appropriate; strong decision-making skills and abilities driven by ability to perform data analytics and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills; synthesize information from many sources to arrive at a deep understanding of complex issues.  
  • Communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; demonstrated skill in proactively building strong relationships with top tier partners/leaders/customers both internally and externally; ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, customers, vendors, and other constituents.  
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to juggle multiple tasks to effectively achieve results.  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a closely related technical field; Master's degree in business or engineering preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in gas utilities.
  • PMP a plus.
  • Professional Engineer licensure preferred.
