Summary:

 

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is a key advisor to UGI Utilities Senior Management and Executive team and is directly responsible for the following critical functions within the Finance Department: The Annual Budgeting Process; Financial Analysis and Forecasting; Regulatory Support; and Risk Management.  This position is responsible for providing Senior Management with critical financial information and analysis that will assist in the strategic decision-making process, as well as mitigate risk.  This position reports directly to the CFO and is a key member of the UGI Utilities leadership team.  The Director – Financial Planning & Analysis plays a critical role in the overall success of the company at the intersection of operations and finance.  The Director – Financial Planning & Analysis must possess the ability to drive continuous improvement.  The ability to work well with various support and operations groups and manage projects requiring cross functional collaboration is critical to success in this position.  The ability to anticipate financial operations issues and to formulate recommendations to Senior Management regarding complex operational issues is vital.  

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Annual Budgeting and Financial Planning – Directs the Financial Planning process to incorporate corporate strategies and objectives.  Provides guidance for the annual budget process and development of all key reporting and presentation materials. 
  • Financial Forecasting – Utilizes financial modeling techniques to provide accurate and timely financial forecasts and action plans for achieving financial and operational goals that help Senior Management and the Executive team drive results. Primary liaison with UGI Corp.
  • Rate Case Coordination – Finance team lead responsible for rate case modeling, analysis and regulatory responses related to financial matters. 
  • Analytical Support – Coordinates the analytical support process for Operations and Senior Management.  Guides and directs support function to provide operations teams with accurate and timely financial analysis, forecasts and key performance indicators. 
  • Capital project and M&A support – provide analysis and support for capital allocation.  Acts as primary resource for M&A valuation and risk assessment.  Provides financial support for contract negotiations including credit risk, insurance requirements and tariff negotiations.
  • Risk Management – key finance contact for insurance and environmental matters. Monitors, analyzes, and develops risk mitigations strategies related to interest rate, credit, regulatory and other business risks

  • Ability to lead and continuously develop a staff of employees in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of the intricacies of utility regulations
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations on complex issues and present to Sr. Management and the Executive Team
  • Ability to create financial plans and modeling that will drive consistent, fact-base business decisions.
  • Ability to manage large, complex projects and/or multi-location initiatives; excellent project management and process improvement skills; manage time and resources effectively through strong organization, multi-tasking, delegation and time management skills in order to meet definitive deadlines.
  • Ability to lead in a highly productive, flexible, collaborative manner; capable of readily adapting to challenges.
  • Ability to provide and execute on vision and strategy both with and without direction in support, or definition, of company goals and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; demonstrated skill in proactively building strong relationships with all levels of partners/leaders/customers both internally and externally.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA or CPA preferred
  • 10 years financial experience, preferably in a utility or energy-related business is required
