Job Summary

Responsible for the management of regional operations in a fiscally efficient and effective manner while maintaining a safe, reliable gas distribution system. Responsible for all customer service, operation and maintenance, meter reading, operations support services, and meter and regulating activities. Also responsible for limited construction activities. The Director - Gas Operations is tasked with fostering growth while improving UGI’s corporate image, customer satisfaction and community service.

**Location is flexible, central to South operations region is best. Position has flexibility to be based out of our Denver, Middletown, Bethlehem, Lancaster or Reading office.**

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage daily gas operations within the districts of Central, North (Northern Region Director exclusively) and South (Southern Region Director exclusively).
  • Establish, manage, and monitor gas operations expense and maintenance capital budgets to ensure the effective use of dollars. Additionally, direct management and oversight of new business capital construction activities. 
  • Develop short- and long-term utility operations goals to ensure regulatory compliance and improve system integrity, while fostering growth and the effective and efficient use of resources across UGI. Oversee the development of metrics for use in tracking internal operational performance, comparison to industry peers and driving peak operational performance.
  • Lead utility wide standardization efforts designed to improve operational efficiencies and long-term operation’s system integrity.
  • Identify and develop leadership management and operations talent.     
  • Manage daily gas operations within the districts of Central, North (Northern Region Director exclusively) and South (Southern Region Director exclusively).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of UGI’s Operating Procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CFR 49 Section 192.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PUC regulations (various chapters).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Education and Experience

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree; Engineering, advance degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of gas operations experience.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Demonstrable computer skills and/or aptitude, basic business and accounting/finance experience or education.
