Benefits Coordinator III

Summary:

 

Responsible for administration and analytical duties relating to health and welfare plans. Interface with benefit carriers, field Human Resources, employees, and retirees. Ensure legal compliance; assist with annual enrollment communication development and communicating/presenting to employees, as needed; participate in surveys and other duties as assigned.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

Health & Welfare Plans

  • Conduct new employee benefits orientations
  • Process invoices for payment and oversee eligibility requirements
  • Prepare accounting and informational spreadshseets for various benefit plans
  • Administer the COBRA files and data, including enrollments, payments, and monthly reconciliation
  • Administer ACA files and data, including enrollment corrections and monthly reporting requirements
  • Administer the LTD benefit program
  • Reconcile benefit plan enrollment reports with HRIS vendor, resolve discrepancies, and document per SOX requirements
  • Prepare FAS112 Quarterly and annual reporting spreadsheets
  • Assist employees and retirees with questions and claims resolution
  • Administer and assist with internal processing of dependent verifications and tobacco use verification services
  • Administer the Evidence of Insurability process
  • Process life claims for employees, dependents and retirees
  • Monitor the smoking cessation program
  • Serve as back-up support for 401(k) and Pension administration
  • Liaise with Payroll and HRIS on issues, report development, system changes, and electronic carrier/vendor reporting
  • SOX: Monitor, support and perform the necessary tasks to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

 

Annual Projects

  • Annual enrollment
  • Participate in production of benefit enrollment materials
  • Assist with implementation of new vendors
  • Prepare worksheets for the budget process
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Wellness Program

  • Communicate and support the wellness program for all UGI locations
  • Participate as member of the wellness committee
  • Prepare communications for UGI Communications: Watts in the Pipeline and the digital boards

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of ERISA regulations, policies, and guidelines along with up-to-date knowledge on trends in benefits
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to present thoughts in a succinct and clear way that employees at all levels can successfully consume
  • Advanced MicroSoft Office skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher with an ability to create presentations and document that employees at all levels can understand and utilize
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge with SAP SuccessFactors, Benefitfocus, and/or other HRIS and Benefits systems

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in supporting benefits programs
