Position Summary:
The SAP Configurator is responsible for translating the business requirements of Rates, Customer Billing, Accounting and Customer Service in to the SAP IS-U / CR&B system via the SAP Configuration IMG (SAP Implementation Guide).  This position is expected to be a subject matter expert supporting end-to-end Billing solutions with a focus on rate configuration for all gas and electric rates including major accounts, unbilled revenue, cancel/rebills, bill print, exception management (BPEM) with Basis Technologies’ BDEx suite, budget billing, integration of billing/invoicing with FICA and IDEX.  


The Configurator supports all phases of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with a focus on the analysis, design, configuration, development and testing phases.  Participates in all aspects of project work, defect and issue resolution, ongoing functional enhancements, troubleshooting, and SAP patches or upgrades.  Collaborates with business area stakeholders to gather requirements, document specifications, identify value-added solutions and ensure quality of end-to-end solutions.  Must continuously maintain and develop the necessary skillsets, both technical and analytical to deliver value-added business solutions within the IT architecture.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with business unit analysts, configurators and technical resources to design, develop, test and implement enhancements to meet changing policy, regulatory and business requirements.  
  • Ensure successful deployment of end-to-end SAP IS-U Billing solutions and rate configurations by interpreting customer needs for which in-depth configuration and integration is required.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, propose solutions, identify cross functional dependencies and demonstrate the ability to drive problems to closure.  Develop subject matter expert competency to positively impact a range of requests and projects in Billing functional area.  
  • Generate the required documentation throughout the different phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables such as project charters, functional specifications and test plans. Lead the request and analysis phases of the SDLC to assess preliminary requirements, estimate effort and provide input to project prioritization.  
  • Lead concurrent projects with cross functional teams, business leaders and third-party vendors.  Facilitate requirement workshops and status meetings to ensure consensus among all project stakeholders.  
  • Serve as a point of contact for the business in assigned functional area.  Prepare and provide status updates, provide input to help with defect and change prioritization and ensure timely completion of Incidents/Defects and Service Requests/Changes.  
  • Provide mentoring and cross-training to other team members to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer occurs in Billing & Invoicing.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess strong analytical skills, which allows for the assessment of UGI business processes and how they guide and shape application functionality.  
  • Possess technical skills to work with SAP tables, SAP queries, scripts, LSMW data transfer and SAP debugging.  
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to collaborate with business and IT.  Frequently presents information to the team, project managers and business areas.  Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.  
  • Works within established priorities and adheres to task assignments.  Understands project plans and is able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines. Develops project plans for small projects; partners with Project Managers to develop project plans for large projects and assists Manager with resource planning.  
  • Working knowledge of COBIT5 based IT Governance and Management framework or other structured industry standard methodologies.


Education:    Required:  High-School diploma or equivalency certificate.    
Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline.
Length of Experience:    Required for:      

Advisory level:  Four (4) or more years of functional SAP experience.  
                        Comprised of at least two (2) years of experience with SAP Utilities (IS-U) configuration and at least two (2) years of experience supporting applications or systems with analysis, design and/or improvement focus in one of the following components:
Senior level:  Six (6) or more years of functional SAP experience.  
                        Comprised of at least four (4) years of experience with SAP Utilities (IS-U) configuration and at least two (2) years of experience supporting applications or systems with analysis, design and/or improvement focus in one of the following components:

•    SAP IS-U / CR&B Billing (preferred)
•    Intercompany Data Exchange for Deregulated Markets (IDEX) 
•    Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FICA)

Preferred      Advisory:  Four (4) or more years of configuration experience with SAP IS-U Billing.
Senior: Six (6) or more years of configuration experience with SAP IS-U Billing.
Certifications:    ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Foundation certification (at hire or within 12 months in position).
Preferred: SAP professional certification in one of the specific disiplines lists above.
Licenses/Registrations:    N/A
Other:    Preferred: Two (2) or more years supporting a system with a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), and experience in systems analysis, design, and development. 
Experience developing technical specifications based on the requirements provided from business units.
