Accountant II-General Ledger and Accounts Payable

Position Summary:
This individual will be responsible for performing particular month end closing tasks surrounding the general ledger and accounts payable areas. These closing responsibilities include but are not limited to benefit related journal entries, month end accruals, and burdens and settlements analysis. This individual will assist with generating reporting in both groups, performing account reconciliations, SOX controls, and ad hoc projects surrounding process improvements.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to compensation, benefits, accounts payable and related accrual and receiving accounts, and other areas as needed.
  • Lead or assist with certain account or process analysis and process improvement related initiatives, including coding corrections and capitalization analysis of various costs, intercompany invoicing and reconciliation, past due invoice prioritization and resolution, various documentation and efficiency improvements, and other areas as needed.
  • Assist with reporting for accounts payable and accrual metrics, labor costing and burdens analysis, etc.
  • Perform SOX controls and provide support for internal and external audits.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of GAAP including technical accounting principles
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements and ability to perform key controls over financial reporting
  • Strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to identify solutions to nonstandard requests; good judgment and decision-making ability
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to juggle multiple tasks to effectively achieve results
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines while adhering to a high level of attention to detail
  • Public accounting experience and/or Utility/Energy industry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting

Length of Experience: 3-5 years related experience

Certifications: CPA preferred
