Job Summary

A Senior Project Manager (SPM) leads Replacement and Betterment (R&B) and Growth capital projects from beginning to closeout within a geographic region to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to scope.  An SPM is responsible for leading project teams and managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance on assigned projects and bringing projects to a successful conclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams and coordinate stakeholder involvement, input, and deliverables for projects from beginning to closeout working closely with various UGI departments.  Provide purpose, motivation, and direction to project teams and serve as decision-maker and approver for assigned projects.  
  • Work with the Senior Manager of Project Management (SMPM) to develop a long-term resource plan to complete R&B and Growth capital projects in the assigned region that ensures safe execution of work and utilizes resources efficiently.  Identify and initiate opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage project development, execution, tracking, and closeout to include cost estimates, schedules, variance analyses, and other project controls for assigned projects.  Communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Assist with the budgeting process for the assigned region and manage assigned projects to ensure alignment with established financial and mileage targets. Continually monitor and update which projects are active and contributing to annual targets.
  • Manage third-party resources such as contractors, vendors, consultants, and government agencies who are stakeholders and project team members.  Ensure proper coordination, participation, and deliverables from these resources to ensure project completion.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, or other field if combined with relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in gas, electric utility/pipeline/transmission with a thorough understanding of major business functions; demonstrated ability to lead complex projects.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; MS Project preferred.
