Position Summary:
Supervise, provide leadership and development of Area Engineering staff.  Specific duties include:  Review designs of capital projects within the operating region for technical completeness, adherence to company policy/procedures, and budget adherence or offsets; development and tracking of budget in assigned area(s); and provide technical support for developing Area Engineering staff.

Principal Accountabilities:
1)  Manage Area Capital Budget
• Reviewing designs of capital projects
• Developing budget for assigned area(s)
• Tracking budget performance of assigned area(s)
• Participate in post-project reviews and variance analysis
• Ensure designs are in construction ready status by start of 3rd quarater of fiscal year (March 31st)
2)  Provide supervision and development of Area Engineering staff
• Work with Sr. Manager Area Engineering to develop individual performance goals for Area Engineering staff
• Provide opportunities for Area Engineering staff to spend time in other operating areas
• Train and develop the Area Engineering Staff in natural gas distribution system operations; engineering design process; project management and cost containment, etc.
• Review capital project designs with engineers; identify areas of improvement in design process efficiencies

3)  Work with System Planning and Marketing to identify need for system reinforcement
• Assist in validating system models
• Monitor system for pressure low points during peak usage times

4)  Review and update long term infrastructure improvement plan (LTIIP)
• Work with operations personnel to understand areas of concern and high risk within systems (Lehigh, Hazleton, Lehighton, Stroudsburg)
• Update LTIIP as risk/concerns are identified to ensure replacement in a timely manner
5)  Communicate and work with outside engineers, regulators, contractors and municipalities to minimize conflicts and coordinate workflow
• Coordinate proposed projects with other utilities, municipal public works, and PennDOT
• Obtain information for response to PUC data request for the assigned Area
6)  Perform other duties as requested by Sr. Manager Area Engineering.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering

Length of Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in natural gas industry

Licenses/Registrations: Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Pennsylvania – if licensed in another state, must be able to get PA license within six (6) months.


Working Conditions:
Although the majority of the time is spent in a regular office environment, can be expected to complete assigned duties in extreme hot or cold outdoor temperatures as well as on roadways where heavy traffic conditions exist.  80% Office, 20% Field.
