Job Summary

Provide design support tasks for Area Engineering staff.  Specific duties include: Developing base mapping for capital construction projects; manage third party consultants performing base map development; coordinate design one call responses, by reviewing existing facility records and communicating responses back to requesters; perform non-complex R&B design work; and, providing AutoCAD design support to engineering staff when needed.
 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design and estimate for all non-complex and complex distribution R&B projects by performing in-depth field investigation of all existing facilities within the planned construction area.  Survey, record and draft the existing field conditions and assist the engineering staff with creating their construction plans.  When necessary, utilize and manage third party consultants to ensure required base mapping is completed in a timely manner for the staff.
  • Communicate and internally coordinate workload priorities with engineering staff and engineering management, regarding the design and implementation of projects. Schedule planned completion dates with staff to ensure the timely submission of engineering designs for review and implementation to the field.
  • Provide informal AutoCAD training to the engineering staff, as needed to increase the overall proficiency of the team and to ensure the quality completion of the final construction drawing product.
  • Review design one call requests, and research internal records to determine presence of existing facilities. Gather records, mapping and facility information to develop appropriate response to requester.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Sr. Manager/Manager Area Engineering.

Education and Experience

Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
