Job Summary

The Utility A Start position is a bargaining unit position which requires a general knowledge and ability to perform basic construction related tasks and Utility tasks such as, but not limited to; responding to leak/CO coplaints when qualified, assisting with and/or performing leak repair duties and service installations when qualified, using air and hand tools, operating equipment, pipe fitting, meter reading, MRSLIP investigates, collections and shut-off work, meter turn-ons, complying with all Company safety standards, after hours work and exporsure to all weather conditions.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and install meter sets and basic pipe fitting.
  • Complete turn ons and light ups.
  • Meter reading and complete MRSLIP investigates.
  • Respond to request for high bill complaints.
  • Perform meter changes.
  • Assist with leak repairs, respond to leak/CO coplaints when qualified and perform other duties as requested and callout when qualified.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Availability for after hours work and callout when judged qualified.


Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid PA Driver’s License
  • CDL A license preferred; will be required within 6 months of hire.
