Job Summary

Add profitable natural gas connections in the existing home, new home, and commercial markets primarily through the execution of the Inside Sales Group’s fulfillment process.  Develop positive relationships with key residential and commercial developers.  For an assigned territory, coordinate all aspects of residential elevated pressure requests, inbound added load inquiries, ROW acquisition and other duties related to the efficient completion of new customer connections.  Expeditiously resolve escalated customer inquiries.  Increase profitability by finding ways to reduce costs to serve and coordinate sub-contractor/UGI crews (resources) to complete natural gas connections.  Provide inputs for design and coordinate the resources required for installation of natural gas facilities under the supervision of Sales Management.  Maintain updates in the Sales system and provide a reliable schedule that will improve customer satisfaction and the efficient allocation of resources.  Develop the ability to communicate effectively with customers and governing agencies involved with permitting or code enforcement.  Ensure timely installation of all new business facilities by guiding all aspects of the process upon Sales obtaining customer agreements.  Possess basic working knowledge of natural gas fulfillment requirements. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business Development Engineering to design and provide estimates including service/mains, meters, and regulators to UGI system specifications and coordinate all necessary permitting required for all new business facilities.  On a limited basis, respond to developers, realtors, civil engineers, and prospective customer inquiries showing interest in using or converting to natural gas and as required, complete pro-active field/office canvassing of potential new residential customers.  Work closely with the Business Development Engineering, Inside Sales Group and area Sales team to coordinate aspects of the fulfillment process upon signing of a customer agreement.  Assist with project managing residential and commercial developments, individual residential services, added meter/load requests as well as elevated pressure requests.  Adhere to profitability guidelines as established by UGI’s tariff, under the guidance of regional sales management.  Maintain high levels of Customer Satisfaction.
  • Interact with the Inside Sales Group, Business Development Engineering, Area Sales, and Capital Construction team to support the successful installation of both commercial and residential mains and conversion services which will require workload assessment of crews required to meet market demands and field requests from the office and Sales personnel.  Ensure timely installations and sales system updates for tracking/planning purposes.  Seek to increase profitability by reducing cost to serve through effective coordination of crews, and by collaboration with area Capital Construction.  Establish a consistent feedback loop to the supervisory team to inform management decisions.
  • Communicate with customers, various state agencies, municipalities (permit issues), and contractors in order to review restoration concerns, coordination issues, scheduling questions, complaints, or quality of workmanship concerns.  Establish positive business relationships with residential and commercial developers and municipal officials (e.g., township managers, municipal planners, zoning officials, etc.) to track future potential growth areas.  Also support "Ahead of Paving" and "Ahead of Construction" as well as inactive service customer contact initiatives.  Represent UGI at energy events throughout the year.  Serve as a community liaison via community and industry organizations.
  • Identify cost-saving measures.  Perform cost-benefit and needs analyses of existing/potential customers to strengthen customer service.  Provide technical assistance and perform other duties as directed by regional sales management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The Growth Execution Specialist must understand the operation of natural gas appliances and competitive fuels.
  • Also, the ability to design and estimate construction costs for installation of natural gas services through the use of the Work Order Management System, DOJM, Design Manager, SAP, Fieldbook and MapFrame, along with any other relevant systems is essential. 
  • Knowledge of construction methods and practices related to the installation and maintenance of gas distribution equipment, including GOM; all applicable PUC, DOT, and other federal, state, and local regulations.  
  • Knowledge of UGI’s service policies, current rebate programs, technical knowledge of natural gas equipment, heat loss and heat gain principles, UGI’s tariff, gas codes, along with strong PC skills are highly preferred.
  • Must have strong communication (both written and oral), negotiation, and interpersonal skills.  Growth Execution Specialist must be able to speak clearly and concisely to potential customers about the benefits of natural gas.  
  • Organizational and decision-making skills and computer proficiency are a must.  Must be self-motivated in pursuing strategies and tasks.

Education and Experience

GES I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field required or minimum 3 years industry or sales related experience, in lieu of education.  
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience preferred with degree. 

 

GES II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field required or minimum 5 years industry or sales related experience, in lieu of education. 
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience required. 
  • Eligible for the Management Incentive Plan at 5%.
