Job Summary
The Gas Construction Inspector is responsible for field inspection of Capital service installations and occasional simple main pipeline projects to ensure safe, efficient construction of capital infrastructure. The position is responsible for oversight of service line installations and simple main construction projects to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs visual inspection of project construction activities for compliance to safety standards, design, company and regulatory standards and technical guidelines of the project. Witnesses critical tasks such as tapping, pressure testing, purging operations and establishes construction hold points that require inspection to ensure compliance. Oversight of service installations and simple main construction projects.
- Creates Daily Inspection reports documenting work performed, inspections completed and any noted deficiencies or deviations. Confirms materials delivered to the job site are correct, inventoried, undamaged and stored properly. Verifies that all inspection records and project documents are completed, maintained, and stored.
- Monitors jobsite for safety and compliance to UGI and OSHA requirements. Participates in pre / post construction walk downs. Communicates job status and provides updates to construction managers. Work with Supervision, Management and Engineering to review project designs for line placement, constructability, materials compatibility, and other key items impacting the construction of the facilities.
- Reviews construction plans, facility records, vendor submittals, permit requirements and project documents.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent Interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of company work, environmental and safety practices including being Operator Qualified.
- Ability to interpret construction and vendor drawings and project documents.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
- Excellent Organization and Time Management Skills.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in the construction or inspection of pipeline, service line and regulator station projects.
- API-1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector, API-577 Welding Inspection, NACE Certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license. Must obtain PA driver’s license if current license is from another state.
- Demonstrable computer skills and/or aptitude.
