HVAC Service Technician

Job Summary

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technicians install, maintain and repair HVAC equipment including, heaters, furnaces, boilers, heat pump, and air conditioners. This may include performing warranty services and emergency repairs. This may also include assisting with customers' queries.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work safely on HVAC job sites
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation practices and applicable codes
  • Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, water heating and cooling units (HVAC) for both light commercial and residential customers
  • Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of HVAC systems
  • Communicate regularly with dispatch and supervision as required
  • Maintain good, clean working order of company vehicle
  • Maintain proper inventory, parts, tools and safety equipment in the vehicle
  • Understand company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoice at job site
  • Proper completion of all required documentation
  • Accurately diagnose diverse HVAC service issues
  • Obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to HVAC manufacturer’s recommendation and communicate outcome to customer
  • Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies
  • Generate leads and service agreement sales
  • On-the-job training and development of employees

Education and Experience


  • 1+ year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
