Job Summary
The Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and counterparties. The analyst will review financial statements, credit reports and all available information to make credit decisions that are aligned with company policy. The Credit Analyst will also assist in the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze customers and counterparties to determine credit worthiness by reviewing D&B reports, financials statements and other available information. Establish a credit limit and determine whether credit insurance or security must be obtained while adhering to company policy.
- Closely monitor credit insurance coverage and security provided by customers/counterparties and ensure that it remains current and adequate. Administer security provided by UGI Energy Services including corporate guarantees, surety bonds and cash deposits.
- Support the sales team by analyzing requests for non-standard payment terms, extended contract terms, name changes and other miscellaneous requests.
- Perform weekly/monthly reporting and calculate the bad debt reserve.
- Responsible for supporting both the internal and external Auditors for the Credit function.
- Work closely with the Legal department to ensure various legal documents (E.g., Letters of Credit, Bonds, Parent Guarantees, Confidentiality Agreements etc.) are reviewed prior to accepting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Problem Solving & Creativity - Uses logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions.
- Strong PC skills (proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and DocuSign). Preferred experience in SAP HANA, Tableau.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills to effectively work with multiple levels of management.
- Professional, reliable and self-directing work habits and a desire to learn new and efficient ways of accomplishing work assignments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field of study or equivalent experience.
- At least two of experience working in a quantitative and analyst capacity. Highly preferred: Energy industry experience.
