OVERVIEW: A Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of LNG equipment, mobile LNG equipment, truck transfer and systems related to ongoing LNG operations and new projects, including LNG fueling for end-use customers, portable pipeline projects, and LNG peak shaving applications.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LNG equipment in the execution of LNG operations and projects.
  • Perform preventive, routine and normal maintenance of all equipment at established intervals.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and process flow diagrams (PFD).
  • Fill out all alarm, operating and maintenance activity logs on a daily basis when Mobile assets are operating. 
  • Operate in a shift position and work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Operating all plant systems in a safe manner with maximum efficiency under varying conditions, in accordance with 49 CFR 193, MTB standards and plant operating procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate all pneumatic and electronic instrumentation as required.
  • Travel in execution of UGI projects and initiatives, including off-site work assignments during the winter peaking season or upon request.
  • Assist in the startup and commissioning of Mobile LNG plants.
  • Cross-train and assist in LPG operations as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to Interface and cooperate effectively with UGI personnel as well as customers, site representatives, inspectors, local authorities, and others involved with LNG operations and projects.
  • Industrial trade associated with valve maintenance and repair, reciprocating/screw compressors, PLC automation systems, electrical motors, low/medium voltage circuits.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute all procedures from the facility’s operation manuals in a reliable manner.
  • Capable of interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
  • CDL-A commercial driver’s license with tank and hazardous material endorsements, a plus.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School degree or relevant technical degree.
  • 3+ years of related experience in LNG or industrial gases.
