Corrosion Protection Technician

Overview: Assist with all aspects of developing, testing, and maintaining the corrosion protection system on UGI Energy Services Pipelines, including both the Auburn and Tioga Systems, and any future lines.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete Annual CP surveys, leak surveys, and patrols on all active pipelines.
  • Complete bi-monthly rectifier and bond inspections, and adjust or repair as needed.
  • Review third party surveys for potential CP issues, and work to solve those issues.
  • Assist with third party pipeline crossings through CP design and inspection during excavation activities.
  • Assist with installation of new CP systems by reviewing designs and providing inspection during installation.
  • Assist with general pipeline and right of way maintenance.
  • Assist with M&R station maintenance and compliance tasks.
  • Assist construction group during new construction when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of CP design, testing, and troubleshooting, and use of specialized CP tools.
  • Experience working with regulated commodities, specifically natural gas.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Professional, reliable, self-directing work habits.
  • Ability to travel to all pipelines.

 
Education and Experience Required:

  • NACE CP1 certification or CP2 preferred
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Five (5) years of industry related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
