Job Summary: 
 

The Manager of Supply Chain and Demand Planning is responsible for all distribution initiatives related to the support of network optimization; aggregate demand planning and forecasting; telemetry tank monitoring; and technology assessment/deployment to support these initiatives. The manager will have direct line dialog and coordination with sales, marketing, finance, pricing, and operations to gather business intelligence and incorporate that intelligence into the demand plan.  Also responsible for communicating to senior leadership demand forecasts/updates for customer driven demand across all business lines. The reporting team will create and maintain forecast models to project propane gallons sold across the various hierarchies of the company over a specific period of time. The Manager’s team will assist with developing AmeriGas’ approach to network optimization and demand management, by leveraging existing and industry leading A.I./machine-learning platforms and tools, where appropriate, to include an enhanced driver mobility platform to support data feedback loops.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Support district blend execution and acquisition integration
  • Supports Field Operations to reduce OPEX per gallon and improve customer service levels
  • Partner with IT, SAP, and Field Operations to implement/manage the use of updated forecasting software/algorithms for all customers
  • Develop gallon demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results Build relationships among managers, sales, marketing, finance, CES, and senior leadership to lead to effective knowledge sharing and an optimal consensus forecasting to better guide the company in decision making
  • Use and maintain the demand planning software as the primary forecasting system tool while assessing new leading-edge technology solutions to support/replace existing tools
  • Develop and manage data-mining efforts to identify future improvement areas for Supply Chain and Demand Planning 
  • Telemetry and Propility Meter Solution deployments and program management to include vendor selection and technology pilots/tests/assessments 
  • Review National Account & Acquisition pipelines
  • Provide input on volume and staffing into the annual budgeting process 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Expert in information data gathering, manipulating & interpretin
  • SAP experience preferred with advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel and Access required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, facilitation, and presentation skills


Education and Experience Required:

 

  • BA/BS in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Management, or a related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in demand forecasting in a broad-based distribution environment
  • Experience managing project teams
  • Experience with data mining is a plus
  • Experience in Network optimization and modeling techniques is a plus
